Last Hoorah!
Well Ladies...
its been quite the semester, and we are almost done!!! I have a lot of the descriptions done for my personal 'parts' of the website as well as the ones i showed you last week. also, i feel like we need to add more to our welcome page to make it more informative. i think that maybe we should re-listen to our podcast and add in some of the things that we talk about in that. also, the big band page... really need to make sure that we get a good guideline on that going!

Hey Bloggers!
I found 3 really cool websites that I think would be great for our website:
www.yumyum.com
www.life.familyeducation.com/foods/eating-out/48922.html?detoured=1
www.spatulatta.com
I'm going to continue to look for some more. Also, I will be working on my powerpoint about different types of ethnic foods and where they come from. We are making great progress with our website!!
See you next week,

ok so after making that last post i realized that i forgot to say what "descriptions" that i did, so that we dont have any duplicates... sorry! Anyways, my head is back on straight, the descriptions that i have done and that we can edit today in class are: Welocme to Our Website, Blog, Concept Map, and Event Calendar. Those are the ones that are complete and i have begun to work on the descrition of the Podcast as well as my own, "origional item??" also remember that we need to find atleast 2 more websites to post as well, so lets put those up on the blog as soon as we find those jsut to be sure we have no overlaps! Ok... sorry- that was alot, see you soon!!!

Hi Girls,
Finally it's time to start creating our website! We need to make sure that all of us have class assignments finished so that we can add them to our website. Meghan, thanks for making a checklist for us! That will be a big help to make sure we include all the requirements. We have a great start on our images and ideas for all the pages. I think the next time we meet we should work on adding our lesson plans, our podcast, and our movies.
Keep up the great work!

Hey girls!
I am currently going through the expectations for our website and highlighting the things that we need to have on our site... I am then creating a check list based off of that so that when we go through and create the navigation bar we can organized the links in the order they need to be in (which is required). Hope this will help us control the "chaos" a little bit :)

I'm so glad to have you two in my group!
Our script looks really good and we did a great job working together. I'm sure our voices mixing together are going to sound great. Maybe we could start a band or something if we sound awesome? Okay, clearly-I'm kidding.
Keep your fingers crossed for getting this done in class today!
Love,
Megan
Ps. If you see Mike, don't be afraid to rev your engine!!

Hey Bloggers,
Meghan, we were sad you weren't with us in class today! Megan and I have a great start to our podcast. We decided to write one big script then break our parts into sections. We will each be talking for about a minute about the different aspects of our kitchen project. After we have the talking parts recorded, we will add the music in.
Keep up the good work!

Hey Lunch Box Kids-
I've never made a movie before, so I'm excited to start working on this! I'm thinking about making my movie on how to set a table because that's what I focued on for my lesson plan. I was thinking it would be a great way to lead into table manners and etiquette. What do you think?! Your ideas sound great!

The Lunch Box Kids ePals
The Lunch Box Kids ePals Assignment
Megan Bell

Tampa, Florida. We decided to do kindergarten because that age group
interests us the most. We think it is important to start learning good
nutritional practices at a very young age. By using ePals and
communicating with other Kindergartners from a very different climate
than the one we live in in Michigan, we can learn about the types of
food they eat and grow as well gain an insight as to what they know
about good nutritional practices.
The students will contact the other students
during all points in the project. It is important to have ongoing
communication for this lesson. The students can gather ideas and useful
information from each other on a daily basis, through ongoing monitored email correspondence, that will help with the
cooking/kitchen project. Working with students from Florida and keeping an ongoing communication is key in the students' project work.
What kind of food is grown in your area?
Are there local food markets?
How does the food get to the markets?
What are your favorite types of food?
What are the healthy foods grown in your area?
Do you know what proper servings are?
Are you able to identify the major food groups?
Are the eight essential nutrients our bodies need to be healthy present in your food you consume?
How much sugar does each student intake on a daily basis?
What fast food places are near you? Why are they unhealthy?
Do you know about obesity?
Why are some people vegans and vegetarians? Do you know about their lifestyles?
How much Vitamin C is actually in Florida Oranges?
What are some exercise activities people do in Florida to stay healthy?
The information they will gain will help them understand food better. They can use this information to make comparisons with the students in Florida. They can make graphs with the information they receive and share them with their peers. They can send each other recipes, nutrition facts, and other information related to cooking. The information they gain at the end of the this unit can be taken home and shared with their families and friends. The information can lead to a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Hey Fellow Lunch Box Kids~*~
Megan, we have a great start on this assignment! Although we have answered all the questions, I think we should go back and add to our initial answers. Meghan, we will for sure catch you up either this week or next Monday in class. This assignment is not due until February 19th so we have some time! Megan and I have decided to communicate with kindergartners from Tampa, Florida. We thought this would be fun for our students to communicate with other students who live in a warm climate. =) Do we want to get together to finish this during lab or another time?
xoxo
Ali
ps- I still have to add my websites from last week. Sorry I haven't gotten to it yet!! I will for sure have it done before Friday. =)

We started our new assignment! We are off to a really good start, but we need to add a little more details. Meghan, We will catch you up on this when you're in class next week. We might have to go to Open Lab on Friday to complete this.
This ePal assignment is due on 2/19 so we still have some time to work on it!
Love you all!
Ps. We could map the path of something. Example-follow something from the field to how it gets packaged and ends up in the store!
